Why patients choose The Balance Center

The Balance Center offers a gentle style of acupuncture in El Cajon, where Lisajeanne Potyk, L.Ac., draws on Dr. Tan's Balance Method to relieve pain without needling the sore area itself. Care covers chronic pain, migraines, fertility, sleep, allergies and menstrual concerns, along with women's health, with Chinese herbs added as support. Open Tuesday through Saturday. Insurance accepted.

Specializes in

Lisajeanne focuses on pain relief, women's health, and internal balance, with a Master's in Oriental Medicine and an apprenticeship under renowned acupuncturist Dr. Richard Tan.

Their approach

Care follows the Balance Method, an I Ching-based style using points on the scalp, ears, forearms, and lower legs rather than the painful area, so treatment stays gentle. Chinese herbs are added as support when helpful.

Easy to see

On East Main Street in El Cajon, open Tuesday through Saturday. Call to book, and medical insurance from most major companies is accepted.

About Lisajeanne Potyk

Lisajeanne Potyk, L.Ac., is the practitioner behind The Balance Center in El Cajon. Lisajeanne came to acupuncture from a career in music, and still sees the body the way one sees an instrument: the meridians are the scales and the points are the notes. Lisajeanne's work is to help each patient feel better, move freely, and return to balance.

How they work

The Balance Center is built around a distinctive style of acupuncture. Rather than needling directly into a sore area, which can aggravate it, Lisajeanne uses the Balance Method, an approach rooted in the I Ching and refined over many centuries. The points used sit on the scalp and ears, from the elbows to the fingers, and from the knees to the toes, opening blockages and helping the whole body settle back into balance. The needles are as fine as a hair, so most treatments are comfortable, and many patients feel deeply relaxed while they rest. When it is helpful, Lisajeanne adds Chinese herbal formulas as support.

About The Balance Center

Lisajeanne completed a Master's in Oriental Medicine at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine here in San Diego, and studied through an apprenticeship with the world-renowned acupuncturist Dr. Richard Tan. Lisajeanne cares for a wide range of concerns, from acute and chronic pain to women's health, digestive and internal issues, and everyday stress. Whether you are easing a stubborn ache or simply looking to feel more balanced, care here is gentle, personal, and tailored to you.
